Logan County receives first sales tax collection since voters approved tax in August

Logan County received the first payment from the Oklahoma Tax Commission after voters approved the three-fourths county sales tax in August 2014.

In the month of January, the county collected a total of $282,824.08 to be distributed to maintain roads and bridges, jail operations and maintenance and 13 rural fire departments.

One-thirds of the collections results in $94,274.69 that will go toward the jail operations, $94,274.69 will be split evenly in three ways to the county commissioners ($31,427.67 each) for their district’s roads and bridges and the final $94,274.69 will be spread out to the 13 fire departments ($7,25189 each).

The Logan County sales tax passed 58.1 percent to 41.9 percent (1,979-1,426) which included a 10-year sunset clause.
