The Logan County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Logan County Partnership, will host a free community seminar aimed at raising awareness about suicide prevention and providing support to individuals and families during the upcoming holiday season.
The event, titled “Hope for the Holidays,” is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Logan County Training Center, located at 219 S. Broad St. in Guthrie.
Organizers hope the seminar will help community members recognize warning signs, better understand suicide prevention, and learn how to support those experiencing emotional distress or a mental health crisis.
While the holidays are often associated with celebration and togetherness, they can also be a difficult time for individuals dealing with loneliness, grief, stress, or feelings of isolation. The pressures of holiday activities and school finals can add to those challenges.
The Sheriff’s Office is encouraging residents to attend and learn more about the importance of awareness, prevention and community support.
The seminar will also feature information about local support resources available to individuals and families who may need assistance.
The event is free and open to the public, although seating is limited. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register in advance.
Registration is available online at this link.
Organizers noted that the QR code on promotional materials has not worked consistently and encourage residents to use the direct registration link.
The Sheriff’s Office is also asking community members to help spread the word about the event to ensure the information reaches those who may benefit from attending.
The seminar is part of a collaborative effort to strengthen awareness, connect residents with available resources, and encourage conversations about mental health and suicide prevention throughout Logan County.
For anyone experiencing a mental health crisis or concerned about someone w
who may be at risk, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free, confidential support 24 hours a day by calling or texting 988.
