The October 2022 Support and Certified Employee of the Month for Guthrie Public Schools are Lyn Sarasua and Crystal Marrero
Each was presented with a plaque and a Sonic gift card for their recognition.
Lyn, who works in the technology department, is the October Support Employee of the Month, and Annie Chadd nominated her.
“Lyn has been a tremendous help through the transition from Wengage to Infinite Campus,” Chadd said about the school district online portal transition. “She has worked tirelessly helping myself and others with the transition on top of learning the system herself.”
Chadd credits Lyn for helping to ensure the computers were up and running correctly before student testing.
“It made the day of testing go very smoothly.”
Mrs. Morrero is a science teacher at Guthrie Junior High School, and she was nominated by Susan Whitehead for her energy, resourcefulness, and enthusiasm with her students each day.
“Her lessons are carefully prepared so that students are happy and excited to come to their class,” Whitehead said. “Students who are normally successful look forward to her class.”
Whitehead recalls a new student who did not speak English arriving at Mrs. Morrero’s class and how she researched translation devices and found one that she could utilize in her class that would translate her lectures into Spanish and displays the words within her Google or PowerPoint presentations.
“Immediately, this student’s demeanor lit up and he became engaged. He felt as though he was included and part of the class.”
She added, “Mrs. Morrero teaches not only science but life lessons.
