Man dies in single-vehicle accident

A man was pronounced dead at the scene of a Tuesday evening vehicle accident.

Emergency responders were dispatched just before 10 p.m. to Macarthur Road approximately a half-mile north of Camp Road in southwest Logan County.

According to a crash report, a 2007 Nissan Murano driven by Jerry J. Avey, 36, of Cashion, was southbound on Macarthur when he lost control, departed the roadway to the left, struck a tree and overturned. The vehicle came to a rest on its top.

The report list speed as the cause of the collision on the dirt roadway.

Along with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and Cashion Fire Department reported to the scene.
