The Oklahoman just named the school one of the Top Workplaces in Oklahoma and awarded Meridian with special recognition for its focus on employee training opportunities.

On any given day, the technology center’s 100 plus employees are eager to share what makes their organization great.
“It really is the people,” said Jackie Pfieffer, Custodial Supervisor and a 12-year employee. “From the top down we’ve got great employees. There are people here that I met on my first day on the job and now many of them are my close friends.”

Meridian Technology Center for Business Development Office Coordinator Diane Maddox echoed similar sentiments. “It’s the feeling that everyone has value,” she said about what makes Meridian a Top Workplace. “We’re appreciated and our ideas are listened to.”

The Top Workplaces designations are based solely on employee feedback. Meridian employees completed a survey that was created by WorkplaceDynamics, LLP, a leading research firm on organizational health and employee engagement. Employees were asked to evaluate the company’s direction, execution of ideas, connectedness to the organization, role satisfaction, supervision and employee benefits. Meridian placed 7th out of the 15 businesses receiving this recognition in the midsize category.

“It’s an honor to be selected as one of Oklahoma’s Top Workplaces,” said Superintendent/CEO
Dr. Douglas R. Major. “Our mission of providing customized education and training services for individuals, industries and communities is meaningful and our employees take great pride in striving to fulfill our mission daily.”
Major said that the additional recognition for the school’s commitment to training its own staff is a testament to the organization’s training philosophy.

“We believe that career training is essential, whether it’s career training for someone in our district or for our organization. In order for us to provide training opportunities for our district we recognize that we have to invest in our employees,” Major explained. “Our employees are our greatest asset, and we want them to be highly skilled so they can effectively train the next generation of employees.”
