Meridian Technology Center to host open house for South Campus in Guthrie

Meridian Technology Center will begin offering training at its South Campus on March 21. The South Campus is located at 3025 S. Division St. in Guthrie.

STILLWATER, Okla. – The newly opened Meridian Technology Center South Campus will mark its official grand opening on April 6, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and Open House.

To commemorate the event, the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce will hold its weekly Chamber Coffee at the new facility, located at 3025 S. Division St. in Guthrie. At 9:30 a.m., the Chamber will have a ribbon cutting to officially open the campus. Immediately following the cutting, the South Campus will host an Open House where attendees can hear from Meridian staff members and explore the new facility until 1:30 p.m.

“The Meridian district has experienced tremendous growth since the school opened nearly fifty years ago. A large portion of that growth has occurred in Guthrie and south Logan County. When the Board of Education made the decision to add a second location, they knew it needed to be accessible to residents of the entire district,” explained Meridian Technology Center Superintendent/CEO Dr. Douglas Major. “That location was Guthrie. The South Campus will support the school’s current workforce and economic development initiatives while also giving us room to grow.”

The South Campus will focus on adult training and development, offering a wide variety of personal and professional development short courses. Initial course offerings will include health care skills training, computers and technology, cooking classes, adult basic education including free GED and HiSet test preparation, and short courses to prepare residents to work on movie and TV productions as crew members. Daytime and evening classes are available to help accommodate busy schedules.

The new campus is also home to The Peak, a business incubator that provides dedicated space and services for early-stage startups to help them accelerate through the most challenging phase of building a business. Their services will include business consultation and coaching, workshops, programs and networking opportunities. The Peak has ten furnished business offices with numerous built-in amenities and three industrial manufacturing bays, each with an office and storage room. Drop-in co-working space will be available in the fall.

Located just two miles off of I-35 in Guthrie with easy access from the interstate, the South Campus features conference and meeting space that can accommodate a variety of events, including conferences, business meetings, seminars and job fairs.
