Micayla Haynes signs to play college basketball with UAFS

Micayla Haynes managed only a few words to the gathered crowd inside the Guthrie High School library on Wednesday morning, who came to watch her sign to play college basketball. Opponents could only wish Haynes was as shy on the basketball court.

Haynes, who was surrounded by family, coaches and friends, signed her letter of intent to play with Arkansas Fort Smith.

Guthrie head coach Jack Hankins told the audience that it is a pleasure to coach Haynes and appreciates how hard she works in practices and in games.

Guthrie head football coach Kelly Beeby, who served as the master of ceremonies, recalls Haynes working out at the football practice field as a child.

“This was the little girl that I used to watch run. She was faster than most of the boys. She has outstanding character and a big contributor to all of our athletic programs.”

Haynes father, Beaul, thanked all of the coaches who helped Micayla throughout the years to make the signing day a reality.

UAFS ended its best season ever as a NCAA Division II member with a 21-9 overall record matching the program’s most wins in a season of its NCAA Division II era. UAFS finished 1-1 in its first-ever NCAA Division II National Tournament appearance. College basketball is just one sport that people enjoy betting on. In a state like Iowa for example, as betting is legal, it could be as simple as doing a google search into something like Iowa Sports Betting to get started on betting on sports. This should be fun and winning money should be seen as a bonus!

The Lady Lions, who play in the Heartland Conference, is coached by Louis Whorton.

Haynes will enter her senior season with already over 1,000 points scored in her resume during her first three seasons for the Lady Jays. She will honored at a home basketball game for the achievement.
