A wrecking company began demolition of a speed lube that served Guthrie for decades on the west side of town Tuesday. Now, only one structure will remain to be taken down for the replacement of the nearly 80-year-old viaduct.
Crews were seen tearing apart the former Benton’s Service Center in the afternoon. On Monday, the former Shell gas station, across the street from Benton’s at 9th Street, was reduced to a pile of rubble and hauled off.
Benton’s has relocated on Guthrie’s east side along Highway 33.
ODOT officials tell Guthrie News Page one structure will remain standing during the relocation of utilities (near the viaduct), but will be taken down once construction begins. Related story: ODOT begins moving utilities on west side highway project
