Officer Williams spotlights and thanks GUES cafeteria personnel

Guthrie School Resource Officer Jonathan Williams wanted to recognize some of the often overlooked personnel of Guthrie’s Upper Elementary School (GUES) – the cafeteria employees.

When young tummies start to rumble, this crew is there ready to serve the meals that they have been preparing since the wee hours of the morning.

When asked why these workers were at the forefront of his mind, Officer Williams simply stated that they were important because “they always take care of the kids.”

“Everyone has a story of their favorite lunch lady, who always greeted them with a favorite meal, a kind word and a smile. It is nice to see that tradition of hard work, dedication and bright smiles still exists,” Williams a veteran on the police department said.

“We thank those hard-working cafeteria workers (former and current) everywhere for taking good care of the children each and every school day and more,” Williams said.

Williams has a special place in him for cafeteria workers. His grandmother served the role for many years and proved to be his favorite ‘lunch lady.’

“It seems that we (police officers) are not the only ones that are always here for you. We enjoy great company. We love to serve and want it to show,” Williams said.
