One person is dead, and another was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital following a violent altercation between two delivery workers Monday morning northwest of Meridian.
Emergency crews were called shortly before 8 a.m. to the 11000 block of East College Avenue, near Autumn Woods Farm Road.
According to reports at the scene, two delivery workers were in the area when, for reasons not yet known, a fight broke out and escalated into a stabbing and shooting.
Initial reports from the scene indicated the altercation began inside or around the delivery truck.
Investigators say one of the workers suffered stab wounds and was transported by medical helicopter to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City for treatment.
The other worker suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial information from the scene also indicated the worker who suffered stab wounds had been struck or run over by the delivery truck during the incident.
A witness was located at the scene and was speaking with investigators Monday morning as deputies worked to determine the sequence of events that led to the deadly confrontation.
The incident prompted a significant emergency response to the rural area northwest of Meridian.
Authorities have not released the identities of either individual involved, and the condition of the worker transported to the hospital was not immediately available.
Investigators have also not said what led to the initial dispute or provided additional details regarding how the confrontation escalated.
The investigation remains ongoing.
