Just before 2 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning and several minutes later the weather was directly over Guthrie, including pea to quarter size hail. Several people reported their front yard looked like it had snow. Others were discouraged to see their plants and vegetables leaning to the side after being struck by the hail.

Hail can cause a surprising amount of damage during a storm so you should always make sure your home insurance is covered for hail damage. If you discover your car has been dented by the over night storm, you can go to a place like this denver auto hail damage repair shop to be fixed. You can have your car looking as good as new in no time.

The end result left officially 2.11 inches of rain and was measured as the highest amount in the state. Although, several locations recorded more, including those to the south who received nearly three inches.

The large amount of rain in the short span left some low line areas flooded, including south Division, but it quickly receded.

The Mesonet showed a maximum wind gust of 40 mph leaving some with significant tree damage and some without power.

At last report (10:30 a.m.), 168 OG&E customers were without power in Guthrie.

With the ground already saturated from the weekend’s flood, the question many have asked, “is it going to flood?”

Logan County Emergency Manager David Ball told Guthrie News Page that the threat of flood was not an immediate danger as of Tuesday morning. However, with more severe weather and rain forecasted for Tuesday and Wednesday it will be a situation they will need to monitor.

Ball went on to say that the Guthrie Fire Department are watching the levels at the Cottonwood Creek.
