Proceeds from “The Duffy” benefits golfers through the local YMCA

Cimarron National Golf Club recently hosted “The Duffy” golf tournament and partnered with the PGA Jr. Golf Foundation and Guthrie YMCA to promote junior golf. A true passion of Duffy’s.

Brian Davis from the South Central Section PGA was on hand to receive 100 percent of the hole sponsor money collected by Cimarron National on May 20 prior to the shotgun start.  This money was used to purchase new SNAG equipment for the Guthrie YMCA.

Kristen Merritt, program director for the Guthrie YMCA, was presented with the new equipment Monday at Cimarron National. The program is for ages 5-12 and is a six week clinic offered in the fall and spring.

Until now, the Guthrie YMCA had to borrow equipment from other YMCA facilities.

SNAG stands for starting new at golf and helps teach kids the fundamentals before advancing to their golf clubs.  The YMCA is a nonprofit organization that focuses on healthy living, youth development and social responsibility.

With the partnerships of Cimarron National, the Duffy Martin family and the PGA, the YMCA can do those things through the Y’s youth golf program.  For more information about the program you can contact Kristen at kmerritt@ymcaokc.org or 405-282-8206.
