Re-registered Kindle Fire tracks down suspect following burglary

A Oklahoma City man is accused of stealing several items for a Logan County home in January. One of those items was an Amazon Kindle Fire HD Tablet which the accused re-registered the device into his own name the day after the crime allegedly happen. That action helped lead authorities to an arrest.

Danny ClarkLogan County Deputies were dispatched to the Hunters Ridge housing addition on January 14 for a burglary report which revealed that there was a forced entry into the residence in the late morning hours. The victims provided a list of things that were stolen including several items of computer equipment, camera equipment, children’s electronics, iPods, numerous pieces of high-end diamond jewelry, antique jewelry, and rare silver coins.

In the following days, the victims contacted Amazon about their stolen Kindle Fire where they were told the tablet had been re-registered under another name. Days later, a subpoena was approved and served to the Amazon Corporation. On April 24, the subpoena return of information indicating that the tablet was re-registered the day after the burglary. The computer was registered in the name of Danny Clark, located at 5904 Fox Run Way, in Oklahoma City.

Investigators located criminal history information on Clark indicating that Clark is supervised by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections on numerous active cases, including convictions for possession of stolen property, use of offensive weapon in the commission of a felony, possession of firearms after conviction of felony, assault with dangerous weapons, pointing firearms, narcotics violations, unauthorized use of motor vehicle, and forged instruments.

On April 29, a search warrant was served on the residence. Investigators recovered several items stolen in the Hunter’s Ridge residential burglary. Investigators also recovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, numerous items of stolen property from other burglaries and larcenies. Logan County Investigators filed charges in Oklahoma County District Court.

In addition Investigators discovered several items of stolen property that indicates that Clark also has stolen a lot of parcels and packages that have been left on porches by UPS, FedEx, and USPS.

Clark is being held in the Logan County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center on a $100,000.00 bond. Additionally, Clark has numerous prior suspended sentences that are in the process of being revoked.

The results of the investigation include:

· The resolution of the Logan County residential burglary.

· Oklahoma County charges for the Methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and stolen property.

· Recovery of stolen property from four additional Oklahoma County (OKC) cases.

· Recovery of stolen property from Canadian County (Yukon).

· Recovery of stolen property from Cleveland County (Moore).

· Recovery of stolen property from McClain County (Goldsby).
