At the May 16 Red Bud Awards Gala, Guthrie was recognized by the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association (OTIA) with a Merit award for “Best New Event” – Red Brick Nights.
The application, which was prepared by City of Guthrie staff and submitted earlier this year featuring the 2016 Red Brick Nights series, was judged by a team of tourism professionals on value, reach, creativity, marketing, customer service and more.
The Red Bud Awards are an annual event hosted by OTIA as part of the Oklahoma Conference on Tourism.
The awards recognize tourism activities and organizations throughout Oklahoma that were top performers during the previous calendar year in 18 different categories, including events, attractions, marketing, publications and media in the State of Oklahoma.

In addition to the RedBud Awards the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Sandy Price of the Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau. The award is presented annually by AAA Oklahoma and is designed to recognize a tourism professional who has spent decades working in and improving Oklahoma’s travel industry.
“Sandy is a true professional who has worked for over 25 years to grow Oklahoma City’s visitor travel market,” said Debra Bailey, President & CEO of the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association. “Many in the industry have benefited from her wealth of knowledge and we are proud to name her the recipient of the 2017 AAA Oklahoma Lifetime Achievement Award.”
