An overturned tanker truck closed down traffic for several hours in southern Logan County on Wednesday afternoon.
The tanker over turned on Douglas just south of Simmons on the east side of the road. In the process, it dumped out an estimated 10 to 20 gallons of crude oil from the top vent. The leaks were quickly plugged and stopped.
Clean up crews were dispatched to cleanup the oil.
Douglas between Simmons and Waterloo was shut down for several hours.
Guthrie Public Schools were notified of the area rerouted buses.
It is unknown what cause the truck to flip, but it is believed the trucker had a medical issue. The driver was taken to a Oklahoma City hospital by ambulance with a possible head injury.
Woodcrest Fire Department remains on scene. Agencies helping with the accident were Oak Cliff Fire, Edmond Fire and Hazmat Team, Guthrie Fire and EMS, Logan Co Emergency Management, Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
