Travis Sallee and Sharon Watts shared a campaign mailer together and now the duo will serve on the Guthrie Public School’s Board of Education together.
Sallee won the District 7 seat with 1,361 votes, or 57.04% of the vote. The father of four children, including three in the school district, won 9 of the 15 precincts.
“I want to thank everyone for their support,” Sallee said in a Facebook post. “I have been overwhelmed and humbled by the support and confidence you have shown. I look forward to serving our community and addressing the challenges that face our schools. Please pray that God will give me wisdom and discernment to make the right decisions. Thank you!”
Sallee defeated the incumbent Jerry Welch and Lorraine Nessman. Welch finished with 754 votes (31.60%) while Nessman finished third with 271 votes (11.36%). Sallee made big strides in southern Logan County.
Watts was in a tight race with incumbent Mark Swartzbaugh for the District 1 seat before ending the night with the win.
She collected 1,276 votes (54.14%) while Swartzbaugh finished with 1,081 votes (45.86%). In total, Watts won 10 of the 15 precincts.
