In total, the meeting lasted under an hour with a 30 minute executive session.

Among the items approved was an agreement with the YMCA to be in charge of the School Age Care Program. This will be the second year of the agreement. Cotteral Elementary will again be the host school.

Agreement was reached for the United Community Action Head Start for the upcoming school year to provide special education services. The program is available for ages 3-5.

The board, once again, agreed to continue to base the school year with instructional hours (1080). This method allows the district to adjust the school calendar based on the number of inclement weather if needed. This will be the seventh year using the formula.

The district will continue with the Parent Education Program (also known as OPAT) after a grant was renewed from the Dept. of Education. The program serves 54 families with children under the age of three with personal visits.

After discussion over the last two board meetings, the handbooks for bus drivers and riders were approved.

The district agreed to a contract with Schoolwires Inc. for another year to host the school’s website, but will begin to search for other options for next year.
