Single Moms are invited to a Fall Kickoff Event on Thursday, September 20 at 6 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 224 E Noble Ave, Guthrie, Oklahoma. Childcare will be provided. The event is hosted by The Caring People and Guthrie First United Methodist Church and is an introduction to a new Single Mom’s Support Group in our community.
There will be delicious food, fun, childcare and door prizes … and it’s all free.
“Single Moms carry an enormous burden,” says Cathie Cordis, one of the Caring Women for the group. “Our group meetings will be a place single mom’s can come to share and receive unconditional love, friendship and acceptance with other amazing women and their children.”
Pastor Alan Nagel says the single mom’s group advocates and supports single women and their children in a non-formal way. “With a faith-based foundation, we are inspired to connect single mother’s together to provide social, emotional and spiritual support,” says Nagel. “The Caring Group offers support and motivation to single mom’s to help lead them forward in positive ways and to support and care for one another under the umbrella of Christian Faith.”
The Caring People (TCP) is new to Oklahoma as of 2017, but has been going strong in Missouri for 20 years. In addition to this new Guthrie group, there are Care Groups in Bartlesville, Bixby, Jenks, Ponca City, Oklahoma City and Tulsa. If you know any Single Moms, please tell them unconditional love, acceptance and friendship is waiting for them at a TCP Care Group.
Come and find your place to belong where there will be other Single Moms who are going through similar situations. You’ll find a shoulder to lean on and people who will care about you and your family.
The Guthrie Single Moms Care Group will meet regularly on Thursday’s at the First United Methodist Church. There will always be a free meal and free childcare starting at 6 p.m. Meetings start around 6:30 and last about an hour.
