A suspect was arrested hours after a female’s body was found in southern Logan County late last week and has confessed to the killing. Meanwhile, the victim’s family was notified on the same day as the arrest.
The Logan County Sherriff’s Office responded to the 9900 block of S Bryant Avenue – just off of Simpson Road – Friday morning at around 9 a.m. after a nearby resident found the body of a partially-clothed female on a dead-end gravel road.

The female victim has been identified as Mindy D. Carder, 33.
Carder lived in Oklahoma City, but grew up in Beggs, Oklahoma. Carder’s relatives were located and notified of her death on Friday.

The investigation revealed a group of persons of interest who were cooperative and were interviewed at length at the Sheriff’s Office. As a result of the investigation one of these persons emerged as a primary suspect. During an interview, Timothy Slawson, 21, confessed to shooting and killing Carder.
The Sheriff’s Office says they are unaware of a motive behind the shooting.
Slawson remained cooperative and led investigators to recover the weapon and Carder’s missing clothing. Slawson was arrested and faces the charge of first degree murder. He is expected to be formally arraigned on Tuesday.
Guthrie News Page has learned Carder was arrested in 2009 and spent nearly three years in jail on a second degree rape charge. According to a Tulsa news station, she confessed to seducing as many as 10 teenage boys, plying them with drugs and alcohol. The investigation begin when a father brought his 14-year-old son to the Beggs police station.
Logan County Chief Deputy Richard Stephens said in a statement he was thankful for all of those who helped with the crime scene and investigation.
“The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is grateful for the assistance of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, it’s agents, investigators, and laboratory personnel who are frequently the unsung heroes in Oklahoma law enforcement.”

As a family member of Mindy, I’m saddened that you would say that Angie. I don’t defend Mindy’s actions or her behavior at all. She most certainly made horrible choices in her life. Choices that caused family and friends to have to take a step back from her life. However, she was murdered. Dumped on the side of the road like trash. In addition, she’s a mother. Leaving behind a child. Yes, she made choices that led her here, but try to be respectful and not show ignorance when making comments.

Mindy was an amazing person!!! She had faced a lot of horrible things in her life and I know she was not proud of her past! But she loved her daughter and would sit up at night and talk about how good of a life she wanted for her!! So I am heart broken for my friend and most of all for her little girl! Who has already had to face enough in life with out some one stealing her mothers life!! People make decisions in life and are held accountable Mindy served her sentence for her crime and that should not be the focus or discussion! The focus should be the man who killed her being held accountAble and a grieving little girl and family!!
Mindy had a good heart and yes she had some problems, but she was trying to get it right. Now her daughter will never get the chance to see how much she was trying and how much she loved her. Yes she had a past, don’t we all, but she was MURDERED, and that should be what we are focusing on.
I just want to add a comment.. First off I don’t know either people in this situation, but I gotta say I don’t know of any teenage boy that have been rape. Obiviously they were party boys in high school and they knew what they were doing. That being said what she did in her past was very wrong, but it was in the past. She did not deserve to die and befound on the side of the road. I do believe she had a hand in her own death… but it’s still very sad. She is one of God’s children and I don’t believe anyone should go through what this woman went through. Her family and child will be in my prayers..
Krystal- That is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard…So if a 14 year old boy has sex with a 30 year old woman then its ok because they knew what they were doing? Last time I checked, 14 year olds don’t always make the best decisions…plus she used drugs and alcohol to seduce them. I’m guessing you have a double standard on the issue…if you had a 14 year old daughter that “knew what she was doing” and was having sex with a 30 year old man would you consider that ok?. No, you probably would not. And all the boys that had sex with Jerry Sandusky…I’m sure they knew what they were doing too.

Really at a loss for words on their life styles and what the world is coming to. I really feel for both sets of parents, hers and his. Not only do we have to answer for what we do wrong while we are here on this earth but we ALL will stand before GOD some day. I pray that the 2 people that got away realizes that they were very lucky to still be alive and they need to ask for help and now is the time for them to turn there lives around also. This was their wakeup call. To the family of Mendy – Will be praying for you. I am praying that someone in her family will make sure that Mendy’s young daughter will be taken to church every sunday and get grounded in God’s word.. Nothing will give her anymore comfort than that.
I was Mindys teacher when she was in high school . . . Please know that she was a precious but troubled child. Mindy, I hope we will meet on that hallelujah morning . .
