Despite trees still twisted and up rooted just west of the Guthrie soccer fields, the facility is in playing condition and a new concession stand is nearly completed.
The Guthrie May 24th tornado left its mark on the grounds, but the Guthrie Parks Department has made strides in the last several months.
According to City Manager Matt Mueller, the soccer field fencing, bleachers and goals have all already been replaced and now the Parks Department has started working on the interior of the concession stand, in preparation for the electrician and plumbing to be installed.
The funding for the projects have been accomplished with the help of the U.S. Government FEMA program, State of Oklahoma OEM office and the City of Guthrie.
