In last week’s election, only seven counties voted in favor of State Question 802, which proved to be enough. 70 counties were against the question, including Logan County, but it was not unanimous at all of the county’s precincts.
With the passage, the measure will be added to the Oklahoma Constitution and expands Oklahoma’s Medicaid program to include certain low-income adults between the ages of 18 and 65 whose income does not exceed 133% of the federal poverty level, as permitted under the federal Medicaid laws.
Across the state the question narrowly passed by 50.49% (340,572 – 334,019). The counties voting yes were Oklahoma, Tulsa, Cleveland, Comanche, Cherokee, Payne and Pontotoc.
In Logan County, 59.15% voted against the measure (5,238 – 3,618).
Of the 22 precincts in Logan County, 18 voted against the expansion, while four precincts voted in favor, including three of the four in the eastern part of the county.
Here is the list of precincts who voted for the proposal:
Precinct 201 — (36 – 26) — Coyle (First Christian Church)
Precinct 308 — (240 – 233) — Guthrie (First Assembly Church)
Precinct 309 — (13 – 12) — Langston
Precinct 310 — (67 – 6) — Langston
