The State Board of Education officially approved a plan to keep school buildings closed for the remainder of the school year and begin a distance learning plan.
The motion was passed unanimously Wednesday morning at the State Department of Education.
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister announced a “continuous learning plan” that if approved would take effect April 6.
The action calls for schools to have a distance learning plan in place by April 6.
In addition, all extracurricular activities are cancelled for the school year.
State Supt. Joy Hoffmeister said graduation ceremonies will be up to the school districts to determine to cancel or find creative ways to have them.
