Three vehicle accident shuts down Division St.

A three vehicle accident shut down Division St. on Friday afternoon for several minutes following a three-vehicle accident.

Just after 4 p.m. emergency crews responded to the 2400 block of S. Division (south of Industrial Road). As they arrived all four lanes were blocked.

According to two of the drivers involved in the accident, a red, two-door GT was attempting to turn into an apartment complex. The driver of the GT said he could have turned sooner, but was being patient for a blue Grand Caravan, who was traveling south, to drive through. The driver of the caravan said he saw the GT waiting with his turn signal on.

Instead, a silver four-door Dodge Dart rear-ended the GT and forced the driver side air bag to deploy, according to the driver in the GT. The impact sent the GT into the southbound lanes and colliding with the caravan. The second impact caused the passenger air bag in the GT to deploy.

Both drivers refused medical treatment at the scene, but both admitted they were going to be sore from the impact.

The driver and passenger of the Dart both refused treatment at a hospital. The driver of the Dart appeared to have suffered a lip injury along with being shaken from the accident.

Traffic was rerouted for 39 minutes with southbound traffic detoured onto Industrial Road and northbound traffic diverted onto Prairie Grove.

All three vehicles were towed from the scene.
