Tractor fire burns up 25 acres north of Guthrie

The Guthrie Fire Department was dispatched to a tractor and grass fire Friday afternoon on the north side of Guthrie.

Fire 10242014Just after 3 p.m. crews responded to Highway 77 and Skeleton Creek after a tractor caught fire in an open field and quickly began to spread as flames could be seen miles away.

According to farm workers, the tractor “just caught fire” as they were raking hay.

Firefighters were assisted as the fire was halted by the creek. An estimated 25 acres was burned.

There were no structures damaged and no injuries were reported.

Crescent and Mulhall fire departments aided in extinguishing the fire.
