Two people booked into jail for credit card fraud, possession of stolen Uhaul

With some good police work and a heads-up employee, two people are behind bars facing multiple charges.

Lt. Mark Bruning and Detective Jason Hamilton with the Guthrie Police Department responded to the EARC thrift store in reference to someone using a stolen credit card in an attempt to purchase clothing items.

Upon their arrival, investigators asked a female for her name and gave a name of Callie Channel, but just a few moments later said her name was Callie Jones. A search report did not identify either name and she was placed into investigative detention for further questioning.

A set of keys were located on the female, which belonged to a 2017 U Haul. Near the windshield of the truck was a piece of mail with the name of Julie Watt. With a second search and a booking photo, police positively identified the woman as Julie Michelle Watt.

The 31-year-old from Oklahoma City was found to have warrants in Noble and Carter County for credit card fraud, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Following a search warrant, detectives found several PayPal credit cards with the names removed in a handbag, along with a hotel receipt, inside the Uhaul.

Uhaul states the truck was rented in Oklahoma City on February 14 for a one-day rental but was never returned.

Watt, along with James Albert Timbrook, stayed in a Guthrie hotel and used a fraudulent card for two nights last week.

Once transported to the Logan County Jail, Watt made a phone call attempting to get bond money. She called a subject and told him she had six spools of copper each being 1,000 feet.

Several different credit cards, with different names, were in the wallet of Timbrook.

After further investigation, the couple is believed to have used a stolen credit card to make purchases at a Guthrie auto parts store for $200 signed by a Kate Wilson in November 2018.

A photo lineup was taken to the auto parts store where the owner positively identified Watt as the person who signed the receipt.

Watt, who has a pending felony case in Oklahoma County, pleaded guilty in 2016 to possession of meth and drug paraphernalia and concealing stolen property.

On Monday in Logan County, Watt was charged with possession of stolen vehicle, possessing incomplete card, unauthorized use of a credit card and defrauding an innkeeper.

She was given a $50,000 bond.

Timbrook, 32, who has several guilty pleas to drug charges along with other ongoing cases in Oklahoma County, was charged with possession of stolen vehicle, possessing incomplete card and defrauding an innkeeper.

He was given a $50,000 bond.
