A two vehicle accident on Highway 33 sent three people to the hospital and resulted in the death of a family pet.
Just after 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, emergency personnel responded to the accident on the highway east of Broadway and west of Academy Road.
According to witnesses, a white SUV was parked on the shoulder of the highway near the westbound lane. That is when the SUV attempted a u-turn in the road and was t-boned by an oncoming gray Dodge Ram. It is important to always be careful on the road shoulder to prevent events like this from occurring.
The impact was in the westbound lane resulting the vehicles to cross the eastbound lane and off the roadway.
The couple in the Dodge refused medical treatment at the scene. However, their pet dog died at the scene.
Three people in the white SUV were transported to Oklahoma City hospitals.
Eastbound traffic was rerouted on Broadway. The roadway was blocked for approximately 45 minutes.
