United Way of Logan County raises over $4,000 at annual golf tournament

GUTHRIE – United Way of Logan County raised over $4,000 at its seventh annual Logan County Open on Friday, June 2, at the Guthrie Golf & Country Club. The golf tournament, hosted in partnership with Guthrie Golf & Country Club, Mercy Hospital, and Eskridge Chevrolet, benefitted the United Way of Logan County and its 10 Partner Agencies.

More than 11 teams entered the tournament competing for a $10,000 hole-in-one prize sponsored by Foundation Insurance & Risk Management. Although a hole-in-one shot didn’t occur during the tournament, the John Vance Auto Group took first place with Derek Vance, John Carpenter, Brian Barnes, and Dustin Chamberlain. Second place went to Hip Hop Chos with Mike Kirk, Mark Kirk, Jerry Krittenbrink, and Dennis Ottis. Gaines Howell with Eskridge team won one of the two closest-to-the-hole awards, winning a pair of Maui Jim Sunglasses donated by Guthrie Vision Source. And Dustin Chamberlain with John Vance team won a closest-to-the-hole” award, receiving a Blackstone Griddle donated by Oklahoma Natural Gas.

“We are so appreciative to the companies and golfers who participated in our tournament this year,” said Kristal Flury, United Way of Logan County Special Events Chair. “With the support of our spirited players and sponsors, it’s a fun way to kick off our annual fundraising campaign.”

Additional tournament and in-kind sponsors included Gold Sponsors: Environmental Management, F&M Bank, and John Vance Auto Group. The Silver Sponsor was Oklahoma Natural Gas. The Golf Cart Sponsor was Custom Dental. The Prize Sponsors were: About Face Spa & Salon, BancFirst, CashSaver, Foundation Insurance & Risk Management, Gages Steakhouse, Guthrie Nutrition, Guthrie Vision Source, Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores, Oklahoma Natural Gas, Rick’s Fine Chocolates & Coffees, WanderFolk Spirits, and Oklahoma State Bank. The Food Sponsors were Dunagan-Farms, Greg Webb, and Walmart.

United Way of Logan County allocates donor dollars to 11 programs administered by 10 Partner Agencies. All programs are reviewed annually by donor volunteers to ensure contributions are properly invested with the highest level of accountability.
