The recent wet weather has delayed the completion of the Broadway bridge and so it is again uncertain when the bridge will officially open. The harsh weather, if it continues, may warrant the construction to be protected by an industrial heat shrink wrap to shield it against these persistent conditions.

According to County Commissioner Mark Sharpton, the remaining tasks were to pave approaches to the bridge, install guard rail and stripe the new asphalt and would have been completed in five days. However, the wet weather changed those plans.

Had the weather held, the work would have been completed on Friday, but rain and sleet moved in and shut down the operation. Now, contractors must wait for the site to dry and for temperatures that are 40 degrees and warmer to resume work.

Original Story

Several motorists have been anticipating the completion of the Broadway bridge construction that is expected to be completed this month.

The bridge which has been closed since July 23 is on par to be completed this month, but no official date has been released for completion.

The recent rain and snow delayed the final phase of the project, but contractors are preparing the roadway on each side
of the bridge for paving and asphalt is expected to be put in place this coming week.

According to Logan County Commissioner Mark Sharpton, with a few days of warmth and wind, work can begin. He says ODOT officials believe it will take three to days to complete the paving with road striping to follow.
