Updated on Feb. 6, 2023 — The two vehicles stolen from a Guthrie warehouse have been located in the case.
The 1983 GMC truck was found near Douglas Blvd. and Camp Dr. on Sunday morning. The vehicle was spotted driving in multiple locations, including inside a housing addition.
The prized possession taken from a local family was a 1962 Impala. The vehicle was found at an Oklahoma City residence on Sunday. A nearby resident noticed the covered-up Impala in a driveway and contacted OKC police.
Both vehicles have been processed and now the Guthrie Police Department is working on multiple leads.
The family released a statement on social media.
“It is with great joy we can make this post!!! Our Papa’s Impala has been recovered! We want to thank EVERYONE for their help in the search. We want to give a special thank you to Jason Hamilton and the Guthrie PD as well as OKC PD for their steadfast work in bringing home our beloved Papa’s Impala. We still are missing many possessions, but this one is invaluable to us all.”
A local warehouse building has been ransacked, and several items are missing, including a classic 1962 Chevrolet Impala, a GMC truck, a motorcycle, multiple trailers, tools, parts, wheels, and two bicycles.
The Guthrie Police Department began investigating the case Saturday morning after a door was found open to the building.
While it is unknown when the theft occurred, the family of the prized 1962 Impala (pictured above) says thieves also made off with a 1983 GMC truck (shown below) that is four-door with a square body.
The utility trailer is homemade and has black Chevrolet wheels.
The motorcycle is a Kawasaki Kz 1000.
Also missing is a Cadillac and Giant bicycle, a golf cart trailer, a red Mac Tools toolbox, tools, transmissions, and sunglasses.
While the family would like to see all their items returned, none more the 1962 Impala as it has been a family treasure for decades.
If you have any information on the stolen items, you’re encouraged to call the Guthrie Police Department at 405-282-3535.
