Update: Teen arrested in stabbing case

Updated on Feb. 14, 2023 — A Guthrie teenager has been arrested in the stabbing case that took place Monday afternoon.

Sgt. Anthony Gibbs confirmed the arrest Tuesday morning.

According to Gibbs, the juvenile victim was walking south on Walnut Street after school was let out. At the same time, three other teens were walking north.

An argument broke out between the two teens for half a block and soon after is when the stabbing took place.

The victim was transported by Guthrie EMS to OU Medical Center and was treated and released.


A teenager has been transported to OU Medical Center after being stabbed Monday afternoon.

Police and paramedics were dispatched to the 800 block of E. Vilas. A teen was found with a stab wound to their side as they spoke to paramedics and investigators.

A suspect’s name was presented and within minutes was located on Walnut Street near College Ave. where the stabbing was said to have taken place after school hours.

Police placed the juvenile suspect under investigative detention and transported them to the police station.

Police spoke to two other possible witnesses.

The victim was first headed to OU Children’s Hospital but was rerouted to OU Medical. The ambulance arrived to the hospital at 4:26 p.m.

Guthrie Police Department is expected to release further details at a later time.
