Multiple fire departments in Logan County battled a house fire Sunday evening in the southern part of the city limits. Crews worked the fire in the winter weather conditions.

House Fire 03022014The Guthrie Fire Department was dispatched to the 8600 block of Oakwood Dr. just after 9 p.m. Once they arrived to the single structure home, Oak Cliff, Sooner and Woodcrest fire departments were called in for assistance.

The homeowners believe the fire may have started in the laundry room. Smoke made its way up the walls and into the attic were flames could be seen escaping from the structure.

Along with a temperature reading of eight degrees and a wind chill of negative two, snow continued to fall as fire crews contained the fire after two hours pouring water inside the home.

Additional tankers were brought in as the tankers had to travel 4.4 miles to the closest hydrant to refill and return back to the home.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.

The home appears to be a total loss.
