Video: Fire destroys vehicle, structure on Guthrie’s east side

A structure and vehicle was completely destroyed on Tuesday evening on the town’s east side. Dark, heavy smoke could be seen miles away.

The Guthrie Fire Department responded to the 700 block of N. Ash just after 5:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, fire officials found a detached garage fully-involved with flames.

Neighbors were seen with water hoses attempting to keep the flames away from their homes.

Once resources were in place, firefighters needed only minutes to get the fire under control.

Firefighters had to use extreme caution after a power line had snapped and fell to the ground.

While fire officials continue to investigate, the cause of the blaze may have resulted from a vehicle fire that extended to the garage.
