Volunteers hit the dirt piles Monday evening on their hands and knees. In return, several families in Logan County, through God’s Food Bank, will benefit.

It is reported 37 million Americans and half a million Oklahoman’s receive government assistance. For several families the assistance is not enough and have to turn to charitable organizations for help.
God’s Food Bank, located 1324 N. Wentz, is one of those charitable organizations that many families turn too. The non-denominational organization feeds 5,000 a people each month.
Helping to stock the pantry, volunteers Phil and Tonya Nichols, Charles and Monkia Lamb, Lanin Ethridge, Carla Bales and Jennifer Bozarth all gathered at farmer Johnny Coleman’s garden and harvested hundreds of potatoes.
Carol Thorn with the food bank says donations are always accepted, but could always use more meat products and cereal.
