Despite less than 600 voters turning out for the April 2nd election in the Guthrie city limits, nearly 80% of the voters elected to extend the current Capital Improvement Projects for an additional 15 years.
In 2016, voters approved a three-quarters of a cent sales tax increase to fund projects around the city. The tax was set to sunset in 2031 until Tuesday night’s election.
With the approval, the tax is now set to expire in 2046. Related article: Guthrie citizens to vote on CIP proposed sales tax extension

Of the 546 votes, 79.85% of the voters said yes with 436 votes. 110 voters voted against the proposition, or 20.15%.
Election day saw 468 voters turn out in eight total precincts. 78 additional voters used either absentee mail or early voting.
Each voting precinct showed an above super-majority win for the proposition.
