Watch: Guthrie hosts McGuinness for potential home playoff berth

There will be no secrets when Bishop McGuinness comes into Jelsma Stadium on Friday evening what they must do to come away with a win on Guthrie’s Senior Night.

The Irish enter The Rock on a seven-game winning streak, fresh off of two straight state championship game appearances and one of the state’s top running back.

McGuinness (7-1 overall, 5-0 district) has won by 24 or more points each week since a Week 2 overtime win against Tulsa Kelley and seven straight games since a Week 1 loss to Del City.

The Irish are led by junior Dominic Richardson, who is regarded near the top in running backs the state of Oklahoma has to offer.

Despite missing four games a year ago, “Nic Nic” rushed for 2,135 yards and scored 26 times. Although, the numbers are not as impressive as they were last year, they are still highly respectable this season with 790 yards on 96 carries.

The Irish offense averages 301 yards per game, including 202 yards on the ground.

In addition to Richardson, McGuinness will showcase sophomore quarterback Luke Tarman. In the first eight games, Tarman has nearly 600 rushing and passing yards to go with 14 scores.

On defense, McGuinness is allowing only 12 points per game, but will be tested with the Bluejays and Carl Albert next week.

Despite how the season finishes, McGuinness will finish with their 18th straight winning season, which is second best behind Lawton MacArthur in Class 5A.

The game can be heard on Hot 93.7 FM beginning with the pregame show at 6:30 p.m.
