Many residents were left without water Tuesday evening after an AT&T subcontractor struck a water line in Logan County.
The incident occurred on Clark Street, just off Allen Road, where a two-inch water line belonging to Logan County Rural Water District No. 1 was damaged.
Crews worked in steady rainfall to assess and repair the break.
Because there were no nearby valves to isolate the affected section, Rural Water District No. 1 was forced to shut off the master valve to allow workers safe access to the damaged pipe, resulting in a broader service interruption for customers in the area.
Repair efforts were further delayed when crews encountered solid rock while digging to reach the line. The difficult terrain required workers to switch out the rock teeth on a skid steer bucket to continue excavation.
Crews finally reached the broken pipe around 8:30 p.m. and began preparations to repair the line and restore water service to affected customers.
An estimated time for full restoration had not been announced as of 9 p.m.
