A woman was arrested on Monday night as law enforcement officers were out searching the southwest side of Guthrie for Taton Savory, who escaped from custody before being found 15 hours later.
Deputies began searching for Savory, who was assigned as a trustee and left his work assignment at the District 1 county barn (2315 SW 19th), just before 4 p.m. Related article: LCSO searching for runaway trustee
As deputies began to set up a perimeter on the ground and police helicopters searching in the air, police received a tip from a citizen that a backpack had been placed in a ditch near the softball fields at Owen Fields, which is east of the county barn.
Inside the backpack was a blanket and food items.
Police located Samantha Gann, who is believed to be in a relationship with Savory.
According to a police report, Gann said she received a call stating Savory had fled and that he ran to a nearby home.
After further questioning, Gann, 31, reportedly informed officers she did not have a plan to get Savory out of the area, but only wanted to see him.
Savory, who last month pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, attempting to elude and drug charges, was taken into custody just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday near Broadway and Seward Road.
Gann was charged Wednesday afternoon with assisting a prisoner to escape from confinement. The judge issued a $5,000 bond and a July 26 court date.
