Woman, dog stabbed; suspect arrested after leaving the scene

Updated on January 9, 2018 — Bradley Rice of Guthrie is in the Logan County Jail facing two charges for domestic assault and injuring an animal. He’s accused of stabbing his longtime girlfriend and her dog on Sunday afternoon.

Guthrie News Page was at the scene as a nearby neighbor held a towel on one of the three stab wounds that three-year-old Mutley had suffered. The two most dangerous cuts came on Mutley’s neck and shoulder.

At the scene, the female victim and neighbor were attempting to find an emergency veterinarian.

Veterinarians at Blue Pearl say Mutley will be okay. He was discharged from the hospital on Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Rice, 51, is expected to be formally arraigned as early as Tuesday.

A suspect is in the Logan County Jail after a woman and a dog were stabbed on Sunday afternoon.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 3100 block of Two Creeks Road, near the intersection of Midwest Blvd. and Browne Ave., just after 3 p.m.

The woman called 911 and reported she had been stabbed and later said a dog had also been stabbed by a male suspect.

Deputies arrived to the scene, but learned the suspect had driven away in a white minivan. Deputies were able to get a possible location of the van and requested officers with the Guthrie Police Department to respond to a home on Linda Lane (located on Seward Road west of Sooner Road).

Officers immediately spotted the van and suspect at the residence. He was placed into investigative detention.

The officers located the potential weapon (knife) behind the home – on Linda Lane – and taken into evidence.

The suspect, whose identity was not released at the scene, was questioned and later placed under arrest.

The female victim suffered a cut to her forearm, but refused to be transported to the hospital after her wound was treated by Guthrie EMS.

The dog was seen standing and walking, but with blood on its fur. The owners were attempting to find a veterinarian for emergency medical care.

Guthrie News Page will have more updates as they become available.
