YMCA set for an exciting summer of swimming at Highland Park

After a year without the luxury of a community swimming pool (due to COVID restrictions), the Guthrie YMCA is preparing for a busy 2021 swim season.

The pool, located at 1102 E. Warner, is set to open on Monday, May 31 and close for the year on August 14.

The open swim cost is free to all YMCA members and $5 per day for non-members. See full schedule at the bottom of this article.

Along with open swim, the YMCA will offer swimming lessons, adult lap swims, water aerobics and private parties.

Private rentals will be made available on Friday (6:30 – 8:30 p.m.), Saturday (6:30 – 8:30 p.m.) and Sunday (4:30 – 6:30 p.m.). Cost, which includes YMCA lifeguards is $150 for members and $200 for non-members.

Pool Rules: 13 year olds and above may access the aquatic facility without an adult. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a person age 16 or older.

A driver’s license must be provided by the sponsor. The sponsor must be the means of transportation for the child 12 and younger and are responsible for the child while inside the aquatic facility. Walk up sponsors are not allowed.

A parent, guardian, or sponsor must accompany children under the age of 8 in aquatic facility (1 adult to every 2 children under the age of 8). A parent must be in the water within hands reach at all times unless the child is between the ages of 6-8 years who can successfully pass a deep-water swim test then parent must remain in aquatic area.

Safety Breaks: Safety Breaks will occur for the Lifeguards throughout the day. No one will be allowed in pool during Safety Break Time.
