Young Marines get Honor Park ready for Veterans Day

Recently a group of “young marines” took on a project of sprucing up the Veterans Memorial at Honor Park in preparation for Veterans Day.

.Greg Rupert, American Legion Post 58, noted, “Each year the Young Marines want to do something special at Honor Park. It is their way of saying “Thank You” to the men and women who have served this country, who have served all of us, in uniform.  It is their opportunity to do something special for the special group of men and women.”

Dan Storm, Commander of the Young Marines, added, “We are proud that these boys and girls were willing to spend a part of their weekend investing in this memorial to all veterans, to all those who have worn or now wear the uniforms of our armed forces.”

The Logan County Young Marine Program, sponsored by the Guthrie American Legion Post 58, presents an outstanding opportunity for youth ages eight through 18 to participate in a structured environment promoting mental, moral and physical development.

Rupert reflected, “We focus on character building, leadership and fostering a healthy, drug free lifestyle for both male and female youth.”   Storm, added “Our key principles are: Honor; Courage; and Commitment. It is a great developmental environment for these kids!”
