Grass fire breaks out near Seward and Pine

Fire crews are working a grass fire south of Guthrie near Seward Rd. and Pine St. Crews responded shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

Firefighters from Woodcrest, Guthrie, Edmond, Sooner, Coyle and Oak Cliff have been dispatched to the scene east of I-35. The fire is west of Pine St.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Approximately 20 acres of land has burned. No structures were in danger last reported just after 3 p.m.

Winds gusting up to 35 miles per hour was driving the fire in a northeast direction.

The primary threat has been contained, but firefighters are protecting the Triple Crown housing addition on the west side of Pine St. if the fire was to jumped the road.
