It was expected this week.
The Guthrie Softball program is currently riding a five game winning streak and for their efforts they have jumped into the top 15 rankings in Class 5A.
Head coach Lee Linsenmeyer’s team has compiled a 13-12 season through the first week of September, but perhaps most impressive is their 6-1 district record.
Last week the team had no problem with their district opponents Northwest Classen and Southeast by winning by a combine score of 24-1.
As expected, it is Carl Albert and Deer Creek fighting for the top spot in the district. Both teams have just one district loss much like Guthrie. The Lady Jays will play both opponents toward the end of the regular season.
Upcoming this week, the Guthrie schedule will beef up with four games in six days. Perhaps the biggest game will come Monday the team hosts El Reno for the only district game in the week.
The Lady Jays will host Noble on Tuesday, travel to Piedmont on Thursday and back home on Saturday to play Chickasha.
