Maybe it is an omen for the Guthrie cross country team. En route to their 2010 state championship, the Jays first win came in Weatherford after not winning their own race. Turns out, that is how the 2011 season has begun.
The Jays crossed three runners in the top 10 to help capture the Weatherford Sand Plum Invitational. Guthrie finished with a team low score 75 points with Piedmont coming in second with 101 and Weatherford third with 106 points.
Leading the way once again for Guthrie was senior Walker Cross with a second place finish with a time of 10:20 in the two-mile run. Jonathan Ogan was not far behind for third place in 10:23 and rounding out the top 10 was Evan Watts with a time of 11:30. The 10th place finish is the best finish for Watts.
The fourth BlueJay to cross was Taylor Self in 15th place in a 11:46 timely manner.
