‘89er committee going through big changes; meeting set for Wednesday

The ‘89er committee will soon be going through some major changes in personnel. The group is seeking several volunteers for crucial positions.

It’s one of, if not the biggest events of the year in Guthrie. Of course, it’s the ‘89ers Day Celebration held every year in April.

A good portion of the group, who puts it all together, have announced they will not be on the committee next year, including the event coordinator.

In an email, Dave and Deborah Wolek announced they are moving back to Florida and will be vacating the event coordinator and vendor committee chair.

The treasurer position will also need to be filled.

It’s unknown if the media coordinator or chuck wagon dinner coordinator will return.

American Legion Commander Jerry Ball has requested a meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 11:30 a.m. at the American Legion building located at 123 N. 1st St.

You’re asked to bring a lunch for the meeting.
