Accident on Highway 77 claims life; three injured 

A Sunday morning accident on Highway 77 has claimed one life and sent three others to nearby hospitals.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol tells Guthrie News Page one person has been killed and three others transported to hospitals in a single vehicle accident.

Essence LewisOn a social media post, the mother of Essence Lewis, 19, says she “passed in a car accident.”

The mother pleads others to “please just continue to pray for me and my family.”

A gofundme account has been established to help the family with funeral costs.

Details of the accident have not been released at this time, but tire marks appear in the northbound lane just before the Cimarron River bridge on Highway 77.

The vehicle appears to have struck the guardrail of the bridge, rolled off the highway and down an embankment.

Officials tell GNP that a 20-year-old male was transported by ambulance to Baptist Hospital with minor injuries, a 20-year-old male was transported to OU Medical Center with internal, rib and pelvic injuries and a 2-year-old was also taken to OU Medical with a head injury and possible broken arm.

A family member of one of the 20-year-olds says he did not suffer any internal injuries, but are still waiting on x-ray results on his arms and legs.
