Accident on S. Division slows traffic down for 30 minutes

One of the highest accident prone locations in Guthrie claimed another two-vehicle accident on Friday morning.

Guthrie police and fire departments responded south of the intersection of Division St. and Prairie Grove at 11:41 a.m. The collision shut down the southbound lanes for 30 minutes.

Officers say a truck carrying a trailer was traveling south on Division when it turned west into a private drive. A Ford Explorer braked and was yielding for the truck to make it’s turn when a white four-door 2015 Chrysler came over the hill and slammed into the Explorer in the 45 mph speed zone.

The impact caused the Chrysler’s front air bags to deploy, major front-end damage while the Explorer received rear-end damage.

There were no major injuries reported at the scene and no medical transports were needed.
