Aiden Hardin named GPS Student of the Month

Audra Branson nominated Aiden Hardin for kindness. Blake Wimsey with Foundation Insurance presented AIden with a gift certificate.

Guthrie Upper Elementary School sixth grade student Aiden Hardin was named Guthrie Public Schools Student of the Month. The program is sponsored locally by Foundation Insurance.

GPS and Blake Wimsey (pictured right) with Foundation Insurance have teamed up for the fourth straight year to honor students for their character traits.

Aiden was recognized for the character trait of kindness.

His teacher, Audra Branson, nominated Aiden for his kind heart, creative energy and all-around great student.

For Aiden’s birthday he came up the idea of spending his birthday money on veterans in nursing homes. He bought little army men and wrote notes to all the veterans to remind them that their service was appreciated.

“He took the initiative to call local nursing homes to get the names of the veterans so that the gifts would be personalized,” Branson said of the kind gesture.

Along with his superior grades, Mrs. Branson says Aiden is “always excited about learning and sharing his ideas.”

Aiden was presented with a $50 Walmart gift certificate.
