Reed Roberts powered Guthrie at the plate and on the hill Monday, willing the Bluejays to a 4-2 victory over Deer Creek. The win guarantees a home regional next week.

Reed RobertsRoberts racked up two RBIs on one hit for Bluejays. He homered in the seventh inning. Roberts has now piled up 13 home runs and 56 RBIs on the year.

Roberts struck out eight hitters en route to the Bluejays win. Roberts allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks over seven innings. The senior improves to 10-1 on the bump.

Roberts pushed the Jays ahead, in the seventh inning with his opposite field blast, and the lead lasted until the final out. After Rowdy Reihs walked, Roberts came to the plate with the score tied at two in the seventh inning when he homered.

Patton Collie ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He pitched 6 1/3 innings, walked eight, struck out seven, and allowed four runs.

Deer Creek (19-12) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Brock Ruminer tripled to start things off before Caleb Eldridge homered to give the Antlers a 2-0 lead.

In the next inning, Collie walked the bases loaded and gave up a two-RBI base hit to senior Donovan Jordan that tied the game up at 2-all.

The same two teams will meet on Tuesday inside Squires Field. A BlueJay win would give them their second straight district title. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Guthrie is now 27-7 overall and 12-1 in district play.
