American Red Cross benefiting from United Way of Logan County

Every day, nature shows us exactly how powerful it is and how vulnerable we can be. From home fires to tornadoes or wildfires to floods, disasters strip families and individuals of their essential needs and can devastate whole communities. While the timing of disasters may be unpredictable, the Red Cross stands ready to respond at a moment’s notice with the continued support from the United Way.

United Way logoLocal Red Cross trained volunteers are prepared to deliver basic necessities such as food, shelter and recovery supplies, as well as to provide critical health and mental health services.  Locally, the Red Cross responds to approximately 20 disasters, mostly house fires, which leave more than 23 families homeless a year. The Red Cross through the support of the United Way is able to provide these families with a safe place to stay and financial assistance to help purchase clothes, food, prescriptions, eyeglasses and other critical needs.

United Way funds are critical to our ability to provide these services.  Through the partnership with the United Way, the American Red Cross invests more than $45,000 in supporting Disaster Services in Logan County. The Red Cross is very thankful for the continued partnership with the United Way of Logan County and relies on their tremendous support to ensure the Red Cross is ready in a minute’s notice.

United Way Funding supports specific and critical response services to include the provision of financial assistance to clients affected by disaster. Financial assistance may provide food, shelter, clothing, bedding, relocation, baby items, prescription medications and other health services, funeral expenses, and much more. Funding also supports the targeted recruitment, training and development of our skilled volunteer teams .
