Arrest warrants leads to stolen guns, drugs

The Guthrie Police Department has been busy serving warrants and recently were able to recover several stolen rifles and drugs.

On two different occasions last week, arrest warrants were served in the 600 block of N. Broad and 600 block of E. Grant.

While serving the warrant on E. Grant, police were able to locate methamphetamine and marijuana inside a home.

Police arrested Lora Louise Welch and Nicholas Gene Charles.

Welch was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of drug paraphernalia and given a $10,000 bond.

Charles was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of CDS within 2,000 feet of a school and a $15,000 bond.

Stolen guns found hidden

In a separate arrest warrant, police were tipped of possible illegal activity in the home of 612 N. Broad on Nov. 8.

Drugs were located inside the home and police, after some questioning, were able to locate eight stolen rifles and a revolver hidden in a nearby shed.

Police officials say one stolen handgun remains missing.

William Justin Vassar, a convicted felon, was arrested and booked into the county jail. He was handed down four charges, including concealing stolen property, possession of a firearm after conviction of a felony, possessing a firearm during commission of a felony and possession of CDS within 2,000 feet of a school.

Vassar was given a $35,000 bond.
